Kathmandu, Jan.25: The 7th National Capital Music Awards held in the capital on Sunday.
Various personalities, who have contributed to the field of music and song, were honoured at the event.
Addressing the event, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prabat Gurung said that the ministry would do something for the betterment of art and music sectors in the country.
He further added that the latest decision of the government to seek people’s fresh mandate through mid-term elections would
lead the country towards prosperity.
Urging one and all not to be discouraged by the current political situation and the COVID-19 pandemic, he said that the contributions made to the transformation and development of the society would always be appreciated.
Speaking on the occasion, senior musician Sambhujit Baskota said that the unity of Nepali art and literature was very strong and the country needed help of art and literature sectors for prosperity and development in the country.
Senior lyricist Unnati Sheela Bohara was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award at the event.
Expressing her happiness for the honour, Bohara said that it was a historic day of her long journey as a lyrist.
Various personalities were honoured at the event.
Journalist Shanti Priya (Journalism Silver Award), lyricist Yuvraj Adhikari (National Shrasata Award), musician Santosh Shrestha (Music Award of the Decade), singer and sound engineer Chhring Bhutiya (National Music Award), singer Suraj Poudyal (National Music Award), litterateur Ghanshyam Rajkarnikar (National Literary Award) and many other personalities were honoured in the programme.
Singers, including Nabin Paudyal, Ramesha Dahal, Chiranjibi Bhandari, Usha Malaha, Laxmi Puri Pradhan and music video models like Anita Giri and Sunil Lamichhne among others were awarded in the programme.
