Kathmandu, Sept. 20: A team of five Nepali artists is going to participate in the SAARC Artists Camp and Exhibition to be held in the Maldives.
Five artists from different genres - Ranju Yadav (folk), Sundar Sinkhwal (traditional), Tuk Bahadur Thapa Magar (contemporary), Rita Manandhar (modern) and Bipin Kumar Ghimire (abstract) - will fly to the Maldives on Saturday. They are scheduled to return home next Saturday.
Ghimire, the member-secretary of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), is leading the team.
Officials of NAFA, including its chancellor KK Karmacharya and vice chancellor Gopal Chitrakar, bade farewell to the participating artists amidst a programme held at NAFA headquarters on Thursday.
The five-day art camp-cum-exhibition will take place from September 22 to 26 in Hulhumale city.
Besides Nepal, 10 artists from the host country and five artists each from other SAARC countries will take part in the event.
The annual event is organised by SAARC Culture Centre based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Maldivian government this year.
