Kathmandu, Nov. 15: A five-day Folk Art Workshop and Exhibition concluded on Sunday in Dhanauji Rural Municipality of Dhanusha district.
As many as 35 local women artists participated in the workshop organised by the Folk Art Department of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts.
State Assembly member of State 2 Ram Ashish Yadav had inaugurated the event amid a function held in the rural municipality.
According to Mithila Devi Yadav, head at the Folk Art Department, the women who participated in the workshop were of aged between 15 and 60 years.
Assembly member of NAFA Ram Pujan Thakur had coordinated the workshop while Mithila artists Laxman Thakur and Poonam Kumari Das had mentored the participants.
Four German nationals who were involved in social work at the area though an NGO related to child education also participated in the workshop and created paintings.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, chairman of the rural municipality Badri Narayan Singh said that budget would be allocated from next fiscal year for the promotion and development of Mithila paintings.
Similarly, Folk Art Department head Yadav said that the NAFA would conduct such events in other parts of the country for the promotion and preservation of folk arts and artists.
