Kathmandu, Mar. 20 Famous comedian Madan Krishna Shrestha has urged everyone to stay calm and take precautions to avoid and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Talking to The Rising Nepal Thursday, the comedian said he was happy with the government decisions to take preventive measures to control the entry and spread of the deadly disease in Nepal.

Shrestha, who is also a popular actor and singer of Nepal, said that many of his projects were in halt due to the fear of COVID-19.

“Coronavirus is rapidly spreading worldwide, and the government in Nepal has already issued a notice regarding the restriction on cinema halls, gatherings and many more. Although the restrictions have affected many of my projects, I am happy with the government decision to control the mobility and crowds,” he said.

He said since COVID– 19 has now been a global issue, everyone should follow the persecutions like washing hands regularly, wearing masks while going outside and cleaning floor, walls , stairs, which the people frequently with their hands.

Shrestha said that he was planning to stay indoors as suggested by the government except for emergency situations.

“I will stay home as a precaution to keep myself safe from the virus and to abide by the government decree. I will utilize this time in some creative work like writing poems and songs,” he said.
One of the most successful and respected comedians has a strong professional and personal bond with another equally famous comedian Hari Bansha Aachrya. They, popularly known as MaHa Jodi (duo), have been together since late 1970s till date, staging several comedy shows, acting in television dramas and movies, singing and producing movies.

Their latest movies Shatrugate and Dal Bhat became box-office hits in 2018 and 2019. Their new movie Shankat dubbed both in Nepali and Nepal Bhasha is scheduled to release this year.

In his career of over four decades, Shrestha has won several awards, including “Gorkha Dakshin Bahu” and Jagadamba Shree Award.

Likewise, Maha Jodi is also planning to publish their comedy and stage performance in the form of book which will be published in 2020, according to Shrestha.
Shrestha also sang “Pani Chhyama” song with his daughter Sarana Shrestha which was released a month ago.
