Birtamod, Mar. 13: A water park has come into operation in Jhiljhile, Shivasatakshi Municipality–8, Jhapa.
The park, named Water Kingdom Park, was constructed at cost of Rs. 350 million and opened to public from Wednesday, stated the park’s Executive Director Raj Kumar Sangroula.
The park, spread over 2.5 Bighas of land, offers eight types of water sports, including swimming, web pool, multi-land slide, web slide, cruiser slide, sofa-land slide and pendulum slide. “Domestic and foreign visitors can enjoy themselves to the fullest here,” Sangroula said.
The park’s management informed that there was a separate kid’s zone for children and resting spot for the elderly. However, youths are the main group that the park hopes to attract.
Various structures have been constructed inside the park for eating and sightseeing and a 45-metre long tunnel has also been constructed for tourists. “We have also built two buildings with a total of 28 rooms. One of them will be used as a party palace and the other will be a guest house,” Sangroula said.
Sangroula hopes that the Water Kingdom Park will become a destination of choice for tourists coming from India, Bangladesh and Bhutan as well as those coming from within Nepal from districts like Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Ilam, Panchthar, Siraha and Saptari.
Some of the major tourist spots of Shivasatakshi like Satakshidham, Chillagadh Pokhari and Domukha Park have been pictured in the walls of the park and visitors will also be able to see cultural activities representing various ethnic groups of the region, the park management claimed.
The park has provided employment to 50 people.
Sangroula further shared that the park would offer a package tour to places like Ilam, Jhapa, Dhankuta, Taplejung, Panchthar and Sunsari. “Our plan is to entertain tourists by taking them to the fun destinations of eastern Nepal at affordable rates,” he said.
Although the park, which is about 300 metres south of Jhiljhile, Shivasatakshi–8 on the East-West Highway, has not been formally inaugurated, people have started flocking to take photos and make TikToks.
