Bhairahawa, Feb. 23  The initiative for the preservation of Danapur Lake of Rupandehi has begun by preparing 10-year detailed master plan for its development.

The state government has allocated Rs. 20 million for the current fiscal year as an initial work for its preservation, said Lila Giri, Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of State-5.

This Lake situated at Kanchan Rural Municipality-1 recognised as Rara of the district. This lake spreads over 19.6 hectares of land and is surrounded by beautiful green jungle spanning 91 hectares.
The State government has prepared the master plan with the coordination of Samayamai Community Forest Consumer Group, Gajedi and Jayendra and Partner Private Limited for the preservation of the Lake.

As per the master plan, a canteen and tea shop will be set up at the entrance gate of the lake and a view tower developed in the middle of the lake.
Minister Giri said that nobody would be allowed to construct physical infrastructure at the Danapur Lake against the master plan.

As per the master plan, the estimated cost of the project is Rs. 480 million.

There will be homestay at the nearest villages of the Lake to increase the income of locals as the inflow of domestic and international tourists will increase there.

The glory of Danapur Lake would be increased if the local authorities succeeded to attract domestic tourists rather than international ones, Giri said.

“Danapur Lake is the foundation of economic prosperity of Kanchan Rural Municipality. I am committed to preserve the Lake as per the master plan,” he said.

He urged the locals to coordinate with the State government for the economic development of the State as the government alone could not make the State prosperous.

Chief Administrative Officer of Kanchan Rural Municipality Krishna Prasad Panti said that the role of Kanchan’s locals would be vital for the development of this Lake.

“Economic status of the local will improve with the development of this lake. The Lake will help promote the tourism of the State,” he said.
