Dhading, Sept. 1: Rubi Valley Rural Municipality, a local body of Northern Dhading, is set to organise ‘Yak Festival’ in the month of October, 2019 for the promotion of Yak milk related products and tourism of the region.
Cherung Tamang, chairman of Rubi Vally Rural Municipality, said that the Rural Municipality has allocated the budget for the organisation of the festival.
“We have started discussion with donar agencies and various government agencies for the organisation of two-day festival,” he said.
For the conservation and development of Yak Pasture, the rural municipality is implementing various programmes.
The Rural Municipality is implementing pasture conservation and development programme through Pasture Consumption Committee formed in coordination of Dinesh Ghale.
Currently, there are around 500 yaks in 54 yakshed over Dhading district.
Owing to death of many yaks due to heavy snowfail in last winter, there has been reduction in Yak milk relatd products.
Pansang, Narchet and Somdang are major areas of Yak rearing in Dhading district.
The Rural municipality is expecting to attract more youth in yak rearing in the district through festival and other promotional programmes being organized in the district.
