local administration, as per the decision of the federal government.

The banks, which were closed after the lockdown, have now started their services.

The Rautahat local administration has allowed the banks to open for three days in a week for a certain period by adopting safety measures, said Chief District Officer, Basudev Ghimire.

The banks will be providing services on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday every week for two hours (11 am to 1 pm).

According to him, they allowed the banks and financial institutions (BFIs) to provide banking services by maintaining physical distance along with using face masks and hand sanitizers.

“We have directed the BFIs to allow the entry of one customer at a time to avoid the risk of COVID-19 transmission,” he said.

The locals have become happy after the resumption of banking services during the lockdown as the people were facing shortage of money due to closure of banks, said local Bidur Jha.

“People had been waiting for the resumption of banking services as they were running out of money to purchase essential goods,” he said.
