NEPSE rebounds by 162 points

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Sept. 6: The share transaction, which declined sharply on Sunday, witnessed greenery on Monday.

With a single-day huge fluctuation, the benchmark of the share market index, NEPSE, increased by 161.94 points (5.74 per cent) and closed at 2,980.79 points.

On Sunday, the NEPSE index had declined by 108.26 points and closed at 2,818.72 points. Compensating for Sunday’s losses, the NEPSE has risen 53 points today.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies also increased by 31.41 points (6.02 per cent) to close at 553.40 points.

Even as the NEPSE index increased, the transaction amount has diminished Monday compared to Sunday’s transaction volume.

A total of 17,922,588 shares worth Rs. 9.82 billion of 224 companies were bought and sold in 109,182 transactions today. On Sunday, about 23,079,832 shares worth Rs. 11.24 billion of 223 companies had been bought and sold.

According to NEPSE, the sub-indices of all groups increased sharply in today’s transaction.

Sub-index of life insurance group posted the highest growth of 817.4 points (5.1 per cent) followed by non-life insurance and development bank group whose indices increased by 643.63 points (4.96 per cent) and 503.36 points (9.92 per cent) respectively.

On Sunday, the sub-index of the non-life insurance group had decreased by 519.46 points, life insurance by 511.78 points and development bank by 394.8 points.

Similarly, the sub-index of manufacturing and processing went up by 398.11 points (6.06 points), hydropower by 283.5 points (9.11 per cent), finance by 256.22 points (9.34 per cent), microfinance by 241 points (4.42 per cent) and hotel and tourism by 194.83 points (5.63 per cent).

The banking, trading, others, investment and mutual fund sub-indices rose by 78.2 points, 133.03 points, 150.25 points, 6.67 points and 0.17 points respectively.

Of the 224 companies traded today, share prices of 211 companies increased while only eight companies declined. The value of five companies remained stable.

Share prices of 45 companies increased by 10 per cent on the day while share prices of nine companies increased by 9 per cent.

The share price of National Hydropower Company, Gurans Finance, Shree Investment Finance, Central Finance, Samriddhi Finance, Guheshowori Merchant Bank and Finance, Excel Development Bank and Nepal Doorsanchar Company increased by 10 per cent.

Similarly, the shares of Lumbini Bikas Bank, Miteri Development Bank and Garima Bikas Bank also traded at a circuit level of 10 per cent.

However, the share price of Nepal Investment Debenture 2082 decreased by 1.94 per cent, ICFC Finance Debenture by 1.74 per cent and NIC Asia Debenture by 1.71 per cent in today’s transaction.
