Kathmandu, Dec. 11: Continuing the increasing trend, the benchmark capital market index NEPSE posted a double-digit growth of 10.11 points on Wednesday.
The NEPSE index, which opened at 1151.37 points in the morning, increased by 0.88 per cent to 1161.48 points when the market closed in the afternoon.
The NEPSE index has been showing an increasing trend for last seven days. In last seven days it has increased by 49.49 points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies also increased by 1.69 points (0.66 per cent) to close at 255.19 points.
In line with the increase in NEPSE index, the volume of transaction in the capital market also increased significantly on Wednesday.
The stock exchange traded 2,043,605 unit shares worth Rs. 551,377,852 of 173 companies in 7,172 transactions on Wednesday. It had traded 1653,490 unit shares worth Rs. 498,498,741 in 6,675 transactions on Tuesday.
In today’s transaction, sub-indices of all groups except for the manufacturing group posted an increasing trend.
Sub-indices of non-life insurance group recorded the highest points’ increment: of 113.13 points followed by life insurance and microfinance group whose indices increased by 79.28 points and 57.08 points respectively.
Similarly, trading, hotels, development banks and finance groups sub-indices increased by 29.56 points, 22.79 points, 16.8 points and 6.24 points respectively.
Likewise, hydropower, others, baking and mutual fund groups sub-indices increased by 6.2 points, 5.14 points, 4.27 points and 0.02 points respectively.
Promoter share of Nepal Bangladesh Bank, Nepal Bank, Lumbini Bikash Bank, NMB Bank and Deprosc Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha became top companies on the basis of volume of transaction in today’s trading.
