By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Mar 17: The benchmark capital market index NEPSE increased by 44.33 points (3.37 per cent) on Sunday.
The market opened with 1316.40 points in the morning declined to 1272.07 points when the market closed at the end of transaction.
The index is showing a declining trend with some fluctuation when it touched 1632 points on February 27.
The index has increased nominally by 3.36 points on Monday while it had decreased by 64.14 on Sunday.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies also fell by 8.53 points (3.01 per cent).
On Tuesday’s transaction, the volume of transaction also remained low. The stock exchange traded 4,367,775 unit shares worth 1.46 billion of 175 companies in 18,257 transactions.
In today’s transaction, sub-indices of all groups except for the mutual fund, recorded a declining trend.
Sub-index of life insurance posted the highest points fall of 426.48 points followed by non-life insurance and manufacturing whose indices declined by 338.34 points and 115.08 points respectively.
Similarly, microfinance, hotels and development bank sub-indices declined by 93.66 points, 53.69 points and 52.68 points respectively.
Likewise, trading, banking, finance and other groups sub-indices declined by 49.48 points, 33.16 points, 21.98 points and 14.79 points respectively.
Shareholders of Sidhartha Insurance, Nepal Sewa Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, Swabhiman Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, Nepal Insurance Company and United Insurance Company became top losers on Tuesday’s transaction.
NIC Asia Bank, NMB Bank, Nepal Life Insurance Company, Himalayan Destillery and Nepal Bank became top companies on the basis of turnover in today’s transaction.
