NEPSE continues to diminish, index drops below 2,300 points

Kathmandu, Dec. 14: The benchmark of the stock market, NEPSE, also declined significantly on Monday, the second transaction day of the week.
The NEPSE index has fallen below 2,300 points with the continuous decline of high points.

The index, which declined by 88.73 points on Sunday, declined further by 79.57 points (3.37 per cent) to close at 2,281.67 points today.
With the fluctuation of NEPSE index, it dropped to 2,281 points today. The NEPSE index had set a high record of 3,199.03 points on August 18.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies declined by 12.47 points (2.77 per cent) to close at 437.59 points. A total of 9,679,072 shares worth Rs. 3.99 billion of 233 companies were sold in 62,809 transactions today.
In terms of market capitalisation, investors lost Rs. 236,483.18 million in last two trading days on Sunday and Monday. On Monday, the market capitalisation came to Rs. 3,207,781.10 million.
The sub-indices of all groups decreased sharply.

Sub-index of non-life insurance group saw the highest fall of 545.98 points (5.28 per cent) followed by life insurance and development bank group whose indices decreased by 425.33 points (3.38 per cent) and 211.76 points (5.15 per cent) respectively.
Similarly, the microfinance group sub-index decreased by 187.33 points, manufacturing and processing by 171.72 points, finance by 109.78 points and hydropower by 105.82 points.

Sub-index of trading decreased by 99.11 points, others by 69.35 points, hotels and tourism by 54.92 points, banking by 34.11 points, investment by 3.55 points and mutual fund by 0.24 points.
The share prices of 222 companies have decreased while the shares of only 12 companies have increased in today’s transaction.

Share price of Swabhimaan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha recorded the highest fall 9.99 per cent, followed by Dibyashwori Hydropower by 9.63 per cent and National Hydropower Company by 9.48 per cent.
However, the share price of Gurkhas Finance posted the highest growth by 9.47 per cent, followed by Bottlers Nepal by 5.40 per cent and Unilever Nepal by 4.03 per cent.
