By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Jan.7: The capital market continued its increasing trend on Tuesday as the benchmark capital market index showed a double-digit growth in line with rise in the volume of transaction.
The NEPSE index which opened at 1200.69 points in the morning increased by 16.23 points (1.35 per cent) to close at 1216.92 points in the afternoon.
The NEPSE index had been showing a double-digit growth for the last three days to record around 50 points increment in three days. It had increased by 16.09 points and 18.26 points on Sunday and Monday.
In line with the increase in NEPSE index, the capital market is witnessing increment in volume of transaction continuously.
On Tuesday’s transaction, the stock exchange traded 3,880,950 unit sharers worth Rs. 1.102 billion of 179 companies in 12,457 transactions. It traded, 2.63 million shares worth Rs. 842 million of 178 companies in 10,726 transactions.
On Tuesday, sub-indices of all groups except for hotels and manufacturing and production posted an increasing trend.
Sub-indices of non-life insurance posted the highest points increment of 86.56 points followed by microfinance and development banks whose indices increased by 32.9 points and 26.18 points respectively.
Similarly, banking, hydropower, finance and others groups sub-indices also increased by 19.03 17.55 points, 5.02 points and 1.52 points respectively. Sub-indices of trading, life insurance and mutual fund also recorded a nominal increment in today’s transaction.
However, sub-indices of manufacturing and hotels decreased by 22.66 points and 8.37 points respectively.
Shareholders of Civil Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, Womi Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha, Central Finance, Sabaiko Laghubitta Bittiye Sanstha and Support Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha were top gainers.
