Myagdi, Oct 10 : Heavy hailstorm has damaged the paddy crop at Jyamrukkot of Beni municipality in the district. The hailstorm has caused damage equivalent to Rs 7.5 million, Hira Bahadur Thapa, the ward chair of Beni municipality-2, said.
According to him, the heavy hailstorm on Tuesday damaged the paddy, millet, vegetables and fruits at Gaushwara, Tamane, Bimirabot, Phaparkhet among other places in the municipality.
It is said the hailstorm completely destroyed the paddy of 150 families and partly damaged the paddy of 150 families in Jyamrukkot.
Ward chair Thapa said an emergency meeting of the municipality ward has been called which is collecting the information on the real extent of the damage.
The farmers are worried after their paddy and other crops were lost to the hailstorm and say they will have nothing to eat if they were not given adequate compensation by the local government.
