By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, Mar. 5: The Ministry of Finance decided on Wednesday to disburse Rs. 1.08 billion as the conditional grant for health service centre being constructed in various local units. Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel had given approval for the payment of the money in response to the Ministry of Health and Population's proposal to pay the liability of the facilities under-construction. The government has laid out the policy of providing basic health services in each ward across the country. Currently, health facilities are being developed in 2,626 wards. The federal governments made the disbursement in line with the progress made in the construction of the facility. Spokesperson for the MoF Suman Dahal said that Rs. 4.20 billion was allocated for the construction of health service centres in the current fiscal year. Rs. 2.69 billion has already been disbursed earlier. Likewise, making a landmark decision, the government had decided to build a basic hospital in each local unit. To address the programme, the MoF had ensured resources amounting to Rs. 57.97 billion for the programme. Stone laying ceremonies were held in various eight local units for the construction of the hospitals on November 30.
