A meeting of the high level facilitation committee formed for the construction of the Nijgadh Airport held on Tuesday took a six-point decision to advance the preliminary works on the national pride project.
The meeting chaired by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, who is also coordinator of the committee, decided to complete the tree marking works by mid-December. The committee also decided to employ more human resources for the task.
The committee directed another committee formed to prepare the modality to manage the settlement of Tangiya Village located in the project site to submit its report within 15 days.
Chief of Division Forest Office in Bara district has also been added to the committee coordinated by joint secretary of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.
It has directed the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) to start cutting trees for the construction of the access road and periphery-road.
The committee has decided to complete the preparatory works to get permission from the Cabinet for cutting previously marked 4,232 trees standing where the periphery-road is to be built.
Similarly, the meeting has directed the CAAN to complete the remaining works for the bidding of the airport master plan within a week.
As per the decision of the meeting, the Investment Board of Nepal would take the final decision regarding the request for the proposal by the end of September through continuous negotiation with Zurich International Company selected for the construction of the airport.
