Kathmandu, Oct. 9: Breaking the 30-year agreement with C M Trading Enterprises, Sanskritik Sansthan (Cultural Corporation) Nepal has signed a new agreement with Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) for the operation and management of its Jamal-based shopping complex and underground parking.
In presence of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, Chairman of NTA Purushottam Khanal and general manager of Sanskritik Sansthan Prem Nath Adhikari signed and exchanged the agreement on Thursday.
CM Trading and the corporation had signed a 30-year agreement in 2064 BS. The agreement was questioned from the very beginning for low amount of rent.
Minister Bhattarai said that the Sansthan was moving towards self-reliance after the signing of the agreement.
As per the new agreement, the Cultural Corporation will get rent of the complex at a rate of Rs. 70 per square feet, while it was only getting Rs. 20 per square feet from CM Trading at present as per its previous agreement.
Chairman Adhikari of the Sansthan said that the previous agreement was an obstacle to the prosperity of the corporation.
“For the prosperity of the institution the agreement with CM Trading must be breached. There are some other problems in the corporation and we are working hard to resolve each of them,” Adhikari said.
“For the prosperity of the corporation, which is going through a critical period, it is necessary to review such problems without compromising,” he said.
