Morang, Mar. 3 Financial condition of Binod Kumar Wasti of Aahale, in Letang Municipality- 9, Morang, has changed after he started cultivating lemon.
Wasti has been earning Rs. 1.5 million annually by selling lemon.
He has planted Madrasi species of lemon in his land. He has started cultivating lemon since 2013.
According to Wasti, he started earning money three years after he planted the lemon trees.
He had produced 30 tonnes of lemon in 2016 and 40 tonnes in 2017. However, he produced only 10 tonnes in 2018 because of hailstones, which caused a huge damage to the fruit.
This year he has already sold out 30 tonnes lemon and still four to five tonnes of lemons are still in the trees.
He said that he has been cultivating lemon in three bighas of land. However, his production was still unable to meet the market demand.
“The market demand will be met only if other 200 farmers start producing lemon,” Wasti said.
About 10 persons will get a job for 15 days while two workers get employed throughout the year in my farm, he said.
