75% works of Chobhar dry port complete

Kathmandu,April 1: Almost 75 per cent physical works on the Chobhar dry port in Kirtipur Municipality-6 have been completed.
The dry port is being constructed in two sections - under the national and international competitive bidding.
It has completed 47 per cent works under the national competitive bidding section and 61 per cent under the international competitive bidding section, said Yuvak Dangol, project director.
He said that construction work of the port is in full swing now. The dry port is being constructed at a total cost of Rs. 2.18 billion loan assistance of the World Bank.
The physical infrastructure related to dry port is being constructed at the bottom of Chobhar hill and other works like building quarters and offices are being constructed at Chobhar hill areas.
Construction of all physical structures has completed, only works related to finishing remain incomplete. Currently, works are in progress in building the yard.
Construction of inner roads and parking areas has also reached the final stage, he said.
The deadline for international competitive bidding is April 24, 2021. The project will not be complete within a month. The dry port is being built to store goods imported from third countries.
Once completed, the dry port will have the capacity to accommodate 626 containers, parking facility for the 205 trucks, warehouses, customs administrative buildings, banks and loading and unloading facilities.
The NITDB had awarded the construction contract to the Aashish Joint Venture and Lumbini-Koshi and Neupane Joint Venture in August 2018.
