By Hemnath Khatiwada, Rasuwa, Mar. 29: Thirty-two bridges are being constructed along the Galchhi-Trishuli-Mailung-Syaphru-Rasuwagadhi road project to connect the Rasuwagadhi border, an international trade gateway with China.

Construction of 16 bridges will be completed in the current Fiscal Year 2020/21. The construction of seven of them has reached the final stage, said Narayan Datta Bhandari, Chief of the Road Planning Office.

According to him, the construction of Maheshkhola, Kolfukhola, Thulokhola, Gerkhukhola, Betrawati, Nayapul and Krasingpul of Galchi-Rasuwagadhi road has reached the final stage. And, the road from Galchhi to Syafrubeshi via Malung is being upgraded at a high speed. The road from Galchhi to Rasuwagadhi is being upgraded by dividing it into three sections.

The project stated that the design of some of the bridges in this section needs a review. Bhandari informed that the construction of the remaining bridges is moving ahead well.

Three artistic bridges will be constructed in Battar, Bidur and Trishuli Three 'A' Hydropower Project area. The project informed that it has completed 70 per cent upgrading work at the Galchi-Mailung and Mailung-Syaphru road sections.

"The work of widening the road, constructing drainage and installing retaining wall on the Mailung-Syaphru road section, which is the second section, is in full swing. About 65 per cent of road widening work on this section is completed," Bhandari said.

The distance from Galchhi to Rasuwagadhi is 82 km. Betrawati-Dhunche-Syaphrubesi road can also be used as an alternative to Mailung-Syaphrubesi road.
