By Nabin Sishir BK, Baglung, Nov. 30: Unlike many migrant Nepali workers in South Korea who would prefer to building houses in the cities or towns and thus spend their earning, Gam Bahadur Kunwar, a resident of Dudilabhati at Baglung Galkot Municipality-1 in Baglung district, has opted for goat farming in his own village.

Kunwar says that he has invested all his earning that he made during his five-year stay in South Korea in the goat farming.

Presently there are 200 goats, Boer, Khari and cross of Boer and Khari species of goats, in his farm.

Kunwar said, “I always had in my mind that I should do some business in my own village.”

Besides his family member, Kunwar has given employment to five other people in his farm.

There is a high demand for he-goats in the market, and we are not able to meet it, he said.

It has been three years since Kunwar started his farm and just last year he earned 1.2 million rupees by selling goats.

He estimated that he would make rupees 3 million this year by the sale of goats from his farm.

“At present, we are not selling any baby goats,” said Kunwar.

We can make ample amount of income if we start to sell both the baby and adult goats, he said.

Kunwar said that if one could invest the earning made during foreign employment in productive sector, one could make income as well as provide employment to others, which in turn will contribute to national economy.
