By Tika Ram Upreti, Jhapa, Sept 23: A 106-year old male has got over COVID-19 by staying at home isolation.

Saint Sukadev Saheb, who originally hails from Purniya district of India but has been living in Damak Municipality-9 of Jhapa district, had tested positive for COVID-19 on August 31.

Arrangement was made for the saint to keep staying in his own room after he tested positive for the novel coronavirus and when PCR test of his swab was carried out after 14 days on September 21, he tested negative for the virus, said Badri Baral, inspector of health section of Damak Municipality.

The swab of the senior citizen was collected as part of contact tracing.

The saint took hot water, liquid food, milk and Gurjo regularly, said Baral.

I felt ache all over my body, I also felt inflammation and it was painful. I also had mild fever and did not feel like having meal. But I did not have to take medicine nor need to go the isolation ward of the hospital, said the saint who is 106 and six months old.

I have come over a life-threatening situation and now I think I will live for many years, said the saint with smile on his face, I want to take official certificate now that I have defeated Corona.

The saint has been staying in the house of Laxmi Prasad Simkhada of Damak Municipality-9. When Simkhada tested positive, swab of the saint was collected for testing as per contact tracing. All the members in Simkhada family including the saint had tested positive for the deadly virus. The saint has been staying in Simkhada's house for the last one year.
