Siraha, Nov. 19: A petroleum tanker was looted by an unidentified group in Lahan on Sunday night.
A diesel tanker with registration number Na 4 Kha 4163 was heading towards Biratnagar from Amalekhgunj during the incident.
The tanker was looted while driver Ram Dev Yadav parked his tanker at Hulak Chowk in Lahan on Sunday night at 11:00 pm for a rest in a nearby hotel. Four gunmen came to him while he was sleeping at the hotel at around 12:00 pm. They showed him the gun and ordered him to take the tanker to the destination they showed.
Yadav said that he was ordered to take the tanker to Sindhuli. They had also beaten him up and threatened to kill.
“When the tanker was about to reach Sindhuli, they ordered me to get off from the tanker in a nearby forest of Sindhuli and left the scene and after that I don’t know where they had taken the tanker,” driver Yadav said.
The driver had informed about the incident to Lahan police after he reached Biratnagar. After knowing about the incident, the Area Police Office, Lahan, instructed him to come to Lahan for reporting the incident, SP Bheshraj Rijal said. Tanker driver Yadav informed about the incident on the next day (Monday) of the incident.
SP Rijal said that the police office had carried out a thorough investigation into the incident.
“We have begun investigation into the incident from various angles and perspectives to reach to the looters,” SP Rijal said. The incident seemed to be very surprising and mysterious, he said.
“We will bring out the details very soon and inform the media about the incident,” he said.
