Rajbiraj, Nov 22: More than 5000 citizens of Saptari have registered their names for receiving national identity cards being distributed by the government.
The government has started the national identity card distribution in the district from July 1 and more than 5000 residents have registered their name for the identity card, Ishwora Shrestha, computer operator and the in-charge of the team, informed.
The technical team could register 160 people details in a day from six sets of equipment they have installed, Shrestha added.
Now, on an average, 120 people have been registering their name in a day though the work affected during rainy season, Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals.
The administration will distribute the cards to them soon, Shrestha said.
The government has targeted to distribute National Identity Card to all citizens of the country within three years.
Under the campaign, the government has collected the details of the citizens of 16 districts till now. The districts are Jhapa, Sankhuwasabha, Mahottari, Saptari, Lalitpur, Rasuwa, Chitwan, Tanahun, Syangja, Kanchanpur and Acchham.
