By Shailendra Rokaya, Bajhang, Oct. 1: Rajendra Bohara, the youth accused of raping and the murdering Samjana BK, 12, of Masta rural Municipality-2, has confessed of having committed the heinous crime of murder.

Bohara, who is in police custody on charges of murder after raping Samjhana, has admitted that he killed the girl by hitting her with a trident which was kept inside the temple on Wednesday night.

Even the father of the accused, Bir Bahadur Bohara, could not deny involvement of his son on murdering Samjana while talking about his past criminal records.

According to the father, Rajendra had gone to the stream to graze cattle’s around 3 pm and retuned home around 5:30 -6 in the evening on the very day of the incident, September, 23.

The father of the accused, said, “Police have arrested him and he is now into detention, I cannot even deny his involvement.”

How can I say that an event that no one has seen was committed by him? If it is proved that he killed Samjhana, he should be punished to the maximum, said the father.

"So if he killed the girl, then there is no reason for saving him?”, he added.


The accused who remained silent for a week has finally confessed that he committed the murder by beating her with trident of local temple after raping her.

Rupak Khadka, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) told in a press conference, “As Rajendra Bohara has admitted that he killed Samjhana, now actions will be taken according to the law.”

The accused may have admitted of committing the crime of owing to inferiority complex after being publicly revealed in the press conference.

Rajendra admitted of committing the horrendous crime of the murder last night, the DSP added.

He confessed that the murder weapon is the trident of the temple which he hid in the root of a tree near the temple after committing the crime, said DSP Khadka.

 The weapon used for murder is recovered by a CBI team deployed for the case investigation.

At 8:30 pm on Wednesday, the body of a girl was found half-naked inside the Sim temple of Khikalabasi, Masta-2. She was just 12 years old.

Samjhana had passed class 5 in Masta Basic School situated at Toti in Khikala.

The funeral rite conducted after eight days of murder

As soon as the killer became public, the girl's relatives received the body and performed the last funeral rite of the girl eight days after the murder.

The relatives of the girl, who had been saying that they would not take the body until the accused was made public by the police, received the body from the district hospital and cremated the body after the killer was made public.

While receiving the body from the district hospital, Samjhana's grandfather Gorakh Kami said, "We have received the body of Samjhana in the hope that the culprit will be punished.”

But, the struggle for justice will continue until the court decides, he added.

Ram Bahadur Sarki, Assistant Chief District Officer and Information Officer, said that the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of Nepal had revealed over the phone that the girl's relatives would be given Rs 1 million.
